Part of Road Ready Teens is the Web-based video game, Road Ready StreetWise. Initial game testing with teens learning to drive, conducted by the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, found that StreetWise raises awareness and understanding of the risks teens face behind the wheel. After playing the game, a majority of teens are more likely to take steps to protect themselves from driving risks. The testing also found that teens believe video games are a better way to communicate safety messages to them than other communications such as videos and brochures.
